If he was feeling too lazy to run a GJ, or if the offender was connected to someone, he would belittle your (airtight) case and try to convince you that it wouldn't pass the Grand Jury. Most cops, knowing that a GJ will indict anyone, got fed up with the bullshit and just had their O/T card signed and got out of there.
The end result was many Fel. DWI cases were plead down to impaired or even dismissed as a school bus violation. These repeat offenders are the ones killing people on the highways every day. Don't know if the ADA is still there. He should have been replaced long ago, but dad's legacy won't allow that.

In the Town of Tonawanda, a retired Captain has taken it upon himself to expose the fraud, criminality, lack of ethics and integrity that's existed in the PD and the Town Council for generations. To say the least, the Town politicians and Police brass are very concerned about his actions. They've attempted to silence him by removing him from Town Board meetings, but so far its just empowered him and gained the attention of more than one local reporter.

The union meeting in December is at 7pm on the 13th of December. We should pack that meeting in. They are having a vote on Mark Whites by law amendment. That amendment will prevent this current president and any future president from being able to spend money any way he sees fit. A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to disturbing charges involving students at Buffalo State College and Canisius College. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says 29-year-old Kahlil Peoples has admitted to break ins, some involving sexual assaults.
The District Attorney's Office says Peoples broke into a Buffalo State College student’s residence and sexually assaulted her on November 17th, 2010. The D.A.'s Office says Peoples again broke into a Buffalo State College student’s residence on February 18th, 2012, and sexually assaulted the student. On July 14th, 2012, Peoples broke into the residence of a Canisius College student, according to the D.A.
Days after the break in at the Canisius student’s residence, Peoples was allegedly spotted peeping into a window near the college. He was immediately arrested.
Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita said, “because of their (he meant his of course) tireless efforts, a depraved and dangerous degenerate will no longer be able to victimize innocent college students in our community.”
Peoples is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree burglary. He could face a maximum prison sentence of 37 years, when sentenced in January

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two teenagers accused in the burning of a Jack Russell Terrier puppy were in court Wednesday. One teenager admitted to his role in the abuse, the other teen was indicted by an Erie County Grand Jury.
The District Attorney’s Office says 17-year-old Diondre Brown, aka “Drizzy,” pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals. This is the highest charge he could have been convicted of, had he gone to trial. Brown says he acted as a look out for 19-year-old Adell Ziegler.
Ziegler was indicted by an Erie County Grand Jury, Wednesday for aggravated cruelty to animals. He allegedly poured lighter fluid on “Phoenix,” the dog who has captured the hearts of western New Yorkers. Ziegler, aka “Zooka,” allegedly set Phoenix on fire. The puppy suffered serious physical injuries, including third degree burns to over 50 percent of his body

Sources close to the investigation tell News 4 that Buffalo Police Housing officers believed they were in a life and death situation. Sources say as one officer was being dragged by a driver who had been stopped, the other officer shot into the car at close range.
Buffalo Police stopped 48-year-old Issac Parker Thursday night on a routine traffic infraction. They believe he had been drinking and had him shut off the car engine. That's when they say he became confrontational.
Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said, "We believe that a struggle ensued after he tried to start the vehicle, and at some point, one of the officers was dragged, and the shot was fired at close proximity."
Parker, who authorities say had at least two prior DWI convictions, drove north on Fillmore Avenue at a high rate of speed and crashed into three light poles. News 4 has learned Parker was struck by the gunshot and died from that wound.

Can someone out there help me on this one? A Housing Cop is involved in a confrontation with a motorist. A struggle ensues and the Officer fires his service weapon at the driver of the car. Now, the officer tells internal affair they didn't give chase? I've been on 18 years and this doesn't ring well. Did the Jr. Housing nip think “Oh well, at least I got a shot off at the guy”! Thompson announces new job at employment center December 10, 2012 - 11:56 AM By Jill Terreri
Antoine M. Thompson, a former state senator and Common Council member, announced on his Facebook page that he is the new executive director of the Buffalo Employment and Training Center.
"I will supervise over 30 employees and support Mayor Brown and the City of Buffalo and other key public, private, faith and community sector leaders in assisting people with job training and placement," he wrote on Friday.
According to Thompson's post, he started the job today.
A message left on his cell phone was not immediately returned, and someone who works at the training center said his voicemail there had not yet been set up.
The center, at 77 Goodell St., is funded by the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Development Consortium, Inc. Its funding comes from state and federal sources, though the city budget allocates funding for four positions there, and the mayor appoints the executive director.
UPDATE: Deputy Mayor Steven M. Casey said today that Thompson's hire was made by Mayor Byron W. Brown. Casey said Thompson's experience in city government - he was also a member of Council staff - and in the Senate, as well as a stint at the University at Buffalo's Office of Urban Initiatives, qualifies him for the job.
Brown would like to make the training center more proactive in searching for job vacancies in the public and private sectors, and matching job seekers to those positions.
Asked if this was a classic case of political patronage, Casey said, "Absolutely not."
According to the city's 2012-13 budget, the executive director position pays about $79,700, which Casey confirmed will be Thompson's salary. The city budget allocates about $212,000 in salaries at the center.

District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III has prosecuted all sorts of brutal, vicious offenses. Murders and stabbings. Homicides and assaults.
He hears from people on the street, at restaurants, when he picks up his dry cleaning. They ask about crimes in their neighborhoods, the ones that come too close for comfort.
But there is one type of crime that seems to disturb people across the strata of society, that provokes people to speak out, that lets loose the letters and email.
“The cases that people always ask me about are the animal cases,” Sedita said. “These are the cases that seem to really upset people.”
It is not hard to understand. Take one look at Phoenix, the Jack Russell terrier viciously set aflame this fall, and your heart will bleed. His unbearably cute face with its black snout striped white makes it impossible not to wonder who would hurt a defenseless animal.
The contrast has stuck with Sedita in the decade since.
“People understand, intellectually, that murder is a much more serious crime than aggravated cruelty to animals,” Sedita said. “But I think, viscerally, aggravated cruelty to animals, especially when an animal is doused with lighter fluid and set on fire, that really upsets people.”

Wrongful acquittals are far more common than wrongful convictions
Of course, what Sedita calls "wrongful acquittals" others might call cases where the cop or prosecutor believes a person is guilty but has no evidence to prove it. And if they believe it, then, guilty they are, proof be damned.
Sedita's editorial is fascinating, in that it reflects thoughts so bizarrely distorted as to make one wonder whether he could actually believe what he's writing or thinks the readers so utterly ignorant that they won't notice.
Our policy of critically and repeatedly reviewing cases at the pre-indictment stage has resulted in some cases being dismissed because the defendant is innocent. Since January 2011, my office has reviewed 4,764 potential felony cases for presentation to the grand jury or other disposition. Thirty-three of the defendants (0.7 percent) charged by the police were probably innocent. One such defendant was exonerated after indictment but well before trial. The remaining 32 defendants were exonerated before they were indicted by a grand jury.
None of the foregoing exonerations occurred after a wrongful conviction. None of the convictions obtained during my administration has been overturned because the defendant was innocent. My predecessor, District Attorney Frank J. Clark, served for 12 years (1997 to 2008) and none of the thousands of defendants convicted during his three terms has been exonerated as innocent.
Aside from the fact that exoneration only occurs after a wrongful conviction (though I hesitate to be critical of Sedita's unfamiliarity of legal words; they're pretty hard to understand for some folks, you know), his inability to comprehend that the absence of any exonerations isn't proof that only the guilty were convicted, but the near-impossibility of the wrongfully convicted from obtaining relief. Yet, Sedita credits himself and his office with his moral generosity and near-perfect score card:
So the Erie County District Attorney concedes the system can make mistakes, but not the ones we think:
I agree that the system is flawed, but in a manner that benefits the accused. I can accept that. Our system presumes a man innocent until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Ours is the greatest criminal justice system ever devised and I am proud to play a role in it. What I cannot accept is deliberate deception heaped upon an unsuspecting public. In my view, these so-called legislative reforms, offered under the pretense of preventing an injustice, are not intended to protect the innocent from wrongful conviction but are instead designed to shield the guilty from any conviction. Rarely has anyone had the chutzpah to publish such utter nonsense. The system is already stacked against the prosecution, artfully designed by scheming reformers to the disadvantage of the prosecution in order to shield the guilty from conviction.
Except somehow missing from Sedita's absurd screed is any mention of Habib Wahir Abdal, convicted of rape in Buffalo in 1983, and exonerated by the Innocence Project via DNA in 1999 after serving 16 years in prison. Or Anthony Capozzi, convicted of two rapes in Buffalo in 1987, and exonerated by the Innocence Project via DNA in 2007, having spent 22 years incarcerated. Or any of the other 24 New York State exonerations obtained by the Innocence Project,
These are what Sedita calls "the pretense of preventing an injustice," as we can just put our trust in prosecutors like Sedita, who will be more than happy to "exonerate" anybody they think is innocent on their own. And if they don't, you can bet they're guilty. After all, Sedita would never prosecute an innocent person. It just couldn't happen in "the greatest criminal justice system ever devised."

Driving without pants leads to charge against FBI agent

A special agent with the Buffalo FBI office faces a misdemeanor charge of public lewdness after state police received a report from a truck driver that the agent allegedly made lewd gestures toward him while not wearing pants and driving on the Thruway in Eden.
John A. Yervelli, 48, of Lake View, faces up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine if convicted.
Troopers said they received the report at about 9 p.m. Friday from the truck driver, who was headed east on the Thruway in Eden. He said the driver of a passenger vehicle “pulled up next to his truck, turned on the dome light and displayed that he was not wearing pants, while making lewd gestures,” according to state police.
A trooper later stopped the vehicle at the Hamburg interchange and, after further investigation, arrested Yervelli on the public lewdness charge. He was later released on a ticket to appear in Eden Town Court. His job status was unknown.
“It’s an internal matter,” said Maureen P. Dempsey, Buffalo FBI spokeswoman. “We would not comment on it at this time.”
Yervelli, according to The Buffalo News archives, was a special agent involved in a large-scale federal probe of narcotics, gun and gang activity on Buffalo’s West Side that resulted in federal charges against 27 people in 2010. That investigation, launched by the FBI-led Safe Streets Task Force, revealed that Javier Navarro of Blum Avenue “and his co-conspirators [were] involved in trafficking multiple kilogram quantities of cocaine from source cities in Puerto Rico and New Jersey,” Yervelli stated in a court affidavit in February 2010.
In a strange twist, a Thruway trooper came under investigation by federal law enforcement authorities in a sex case earlier this year. Then-Trooper Titus Z. Taggart – the son of a retired state police colonel – was fired from his job of 18 years in June as federal authorities probed allegations that he was involved in transporting prostitutes from Canada for parties in the United States while he was off duty.

Only the delegates get to vote on the amendment. Thats why it is imperitive that the membership let their delegate know how they want their vote cast. I also think its very important that this meeting is packed and then you can make sure your elected delegate votes with your best interest instead of their own. There are delegates out there that dont want to see change because they were/are benefiting from the way its been running.
So at the board of directors meeting it came to light that last year the Prez spent $30,000 on a union credit card and thats on top of the extra $500 they were all taking including our current president and treasurer. A fire-damaged car belonging to Robert Tatu, a former top aide to onetime Mayor James D. Griffin and Buffalo's latest homicide victim, was recovered by police Tuesday.
Tatu's car apparently was nowhere in sight Tuesday morning when a passer-by discovered his body at the top of an interior staircase leading to his apartment at 504 Elmwood Ave. There were signs of forced entry to the lower door, police said.
Tatu, 42, a West Point dropout who served as executive assistant to Griffin from 1982 to 1986, had been shot in the upper body, police said.
Homicide Bureau commander Joseph Riga said a motive for the slaying has not been determined.

Years ago the ADA that prosecuted felony DWIs was the son of prominent politician. If he was feeling too lazy to run a GJ, or if the offender was connected to someone, he would belittle your (airtight) case and try to convince you that it wouldn't pass the Grand Jury. Most cops, knowing that a GJ will indict anyone, got fed up with the bullshit and just had their O/T card signed and got out of there.
The end result was many Fel. DWI cases were plead down to impaired or even dismissed as a school bus violation.
These repeat offenders are the ones killing people on the highways every day. Don't know if the ADA is still there. He should have been replaced long ago, but dad's legacy won't allow that.

In the Town of Tonawanda, a retired Captain has taken it upon himself to expose the fraud, criminality, lack of ethics and integrity that's existed in the PD and the Town Council for generations. To say the least, the Town politicians and Police brass are very concerned about his actions. They've attempted to silence him by removing him from Town Board meetings, but so far its just empowered him and gained the attention of more than one local reporter.
If more people took it upon themselves to expose the garbage within government, our organizations would function more efficiently and the vile scumbags at the top would be held accountable and perhaps removed from office.

The union meeting in December is at 7pm on the 13th of December. We should pack that meeting in. They are having a vote on Mark Whites by law amendment. That amendment will prevent this current president and any future president from being able to spend money any way he sees fit. There has to be accountability and no one person should be able to decide how money is spent. This is way to important not to attend and make sure your representative votes "YES" for this. Just think about it, this is how Meegan ran this union with complete authority and how he got away with the extra $500 "expense" stipend. Can anyone tell me where in the union monthly budget statement that was shown? No you can't because they did not report it. They knew it was wrong and hid it from all of us. A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to disturbing charges involving students at Buffalo State College and Canisius College. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says 29-year-old Kahlil Peoples has admitted to break ins, some involving sexual assaults.
The District Attorney's Office says Peoples broke into a Buffalo State College student’s residence and sexually assaulted her on November 17th, 2010. The D.A.'s Office says Peoples again broke into a Buffalo State College student’s residence on February 18th, 2012, and sexually assaulted the student. On July 14th, 2012, Peoples broke into the residence of a Canisius College student, according to the D.A.
Days after the break in at the Canisius student’s residence, Peoples was allegedly spotted peeping into a window near the college. He was immediately arrested.
Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita said, “because of their (he meant his of course) tireless efforts, a depraved and dangerous degenerate will no longer be able to victimize innocent college students in our community.”
Peoples is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree burglary. He could face a maximum prison sentence of 37 years, when sentenced in January

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two teenagers accused in the burning of a Jack Russell Terrier puppy were in court Wednesday. One teenager admitted to his role in the abuse, the other teen was indicted by an Erie County Grand Jury.
The District Attorney’s Office says 17-year-old Diondre Brown, aka “Drizzy,” pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals. This is the highest charge he could have been convicted of, had he gone to trial. Brown says he acted as a look out for 19-year-old Adell Ziegler.
Ziegler was indicted by an Erie County Grand Jury, Wednesday for aggravated cruelty to animals. He allegedly poured lighter fluid on “Phoenix,” the dog who has captured the hearts of western New Yorkers. Ziegler, aka “Zooka,” allegedly set Phoenix on fire. The puppy suffered serious physical injuries, including third degree burns to over 50 percent of his body

Sources close to the investigation tell News 4 that Buffalo Police Housing officers believed they were in a life and death situation. Sources say as one officer was being dragged by a driver who had been stopped, the other officer shot into the car at close range.
Buffalo Police stopped 48-year-old Issac Parker Thursday night on a routine traffic infraction. They believe he had been drinking and had him shut off the car engine. That's when they say he became confrontational.
Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said, "We believe that a struggle ensued after he tried to start the vehicle, and at some point, one of the officers was dragged, and the shot was fired at close proximity."
Parker, who authorities say had at least two prior DWI convictions, drove north on Fillmore Avenue at a high rate of speed and crashed into three light poles. News 4 has learned Parker was struck by the gunshot and died from that wound.

Thompson announces new job at employment center

Antoine M. Thompson, a former state senator and Common Council member, announced on his Facebook page that he is the new executive director of the Buffalo Employment and Training Center.
"I will supervise over 30 employees and support Mayor Brown and the City of Buffalo and other key public, private, faith and community sector leaders in assisting people with job training and placement," he wrote on Friday.
According to Thompson's post, he started the job today.
A message left on his cell phone was not immediately returned, and someone who works at the training center said his voicemail there had not yet been set up.
The center, at 77 Goodell St., is funded by the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Development Consortium, Inc. Its funding comes from state and federal sources, though the city budget allocates funding for four positions there, and the mayor appoints the executive director.
UPDATE: Deputy Mayor Steven M. Casey said today that Thompson's hire was made by Mayor Byron W. Brown. Casey said Thompson's experience in city government - he was also a member of Council staff - and in the Senate, as well as a stint at the University at Buffalo's Office of Urban Initiatives, qualifies him for the job.
Brown would like to make the training center more proactive in searching for job vacancies in the public and private sectors, and matching job seekers to those positions.
Asked if this was a classic case of political patronage, Casey said, "Absolutely not."
According to the city's 2012-13 budget, the executive director position pays about $79,700, which Casey confirmed will be Thompson's salary. The city budget allocates about $212,000 in salaries at the center.

It simply does not happen with your average violent crime.
District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III has prosecuted all sorts of brutal, vicious offenses. Murders and stabbings. Homicides and assaults.
He hears from people on the street, at restaurants, when he picks up his dry cleaning. They ask about crimes in their neighborhoods, the ones that come too close for comfort.
But there is one type of crime that seems to disturb people across the strata of society, that provokes people to speak out, that lets loose the letters and email.
“The cases that people always ask me about are the animal cases,” Sedita said. “These are the cases that seem to really upset people.”
It is not hard to understand. Take one look at Phoenix, the Jack Russell terrier viciously set aflame this fall, and your heart will bleed. His unbearably cute face with its black snout striped white makes it impossible not to wonder who would hurt a defenseless animal.
The contrast has stuck with Sedita in the decade since.
“People understand, intellectually, that murder is a much more serious crime than aggravated cruelty to animals,” Sedita said. “But I think, viscerally, aggravated cruelty to animals, especially when an animal is doused with lighter fluid and set on fire, that really upsets people.”

Wrongful acquittals are far more common than wrongful convictions
Of course, what Sedita calls "wrongful acquittals" others might call cases where the cop or prosecutor believes a person is guilty but has no evidence to prove it. And if they believe it, then, guilty they are, proof be damned.
Sedita's editorial is fascinating, in that it reflects thoughts so bizarrely distorted as to make one wonder whether he could actually believe what he's writing or thinks the readers so utterly ignorant that they won't notice.
Our policy of critically and repeatedly reviewing cases at the pre-indictment stage has resulted in some cases being dismissed because the defendant is innocent. Since January 2011, my office has reviewed 4,764 potential felony cases for presentation to the grand jury or other disposition. Thirty-three of the defendants (0.7 percent) charged by the police were probably innocent. One such defendant was exonerated after indictment but well before trial. The remaining 32 defendants were exonerated before they were indicted by a grand jury.
None of the foregoing exonerations occurred after a wrongful conviction. None of the convictions obtained during my administration has been overturned because the defendant was innocent. My predecessor, District Attorney Frank J. Clark, served for 12 years (1997 to 2008) and none of the thousands of defendants convicted during his three terms has been exonerated as innocent.
Aside from the fact that exoneration only occurs after a wrongful conviction (though I hesitate to be critical of Sedita's unfamiliarity of legal words; they're pretty hard to understand for some folks, you know), his inability to comprehend that the absence of any exonerations isn't proof that only the guilty were convicted, but the near-impossibility of the wrongfully convicted from obtaining relief. Yet, Sedita credits himself and his office with his moral generosity and near-perfect score card:
So the Erie County District Attorney concedes the system can make mistakes, but not the ones we think:
I agree that the system is flawed, but in a manner that benefits the accused. I can accept that. Our system presumes a man innocent until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Ours is the greatest criminal justice system ever devised and I am proud to play a role in it. What I cannot accept is deliberate deception heaped upon an unsuspecting public. In my view, these so-called legislative reforms, offered under the pretense of preventing an injustice, are not intended to protect the innocent from wrongful conviction but are instead designed to shield the guilty from any conviction.
Rarely has anyone had the chutzpah to publish such utter nonsense. The system is already stacked against the prosecution, artfully designed by scheming reformers to the disadvantage of the prosecution in order to shield the guilty from conviction.
Except somehow missing from Sedita's absurd screed is any mention of Habib Wahir Abdal, convicted of rape in Buffalo in 1983, and exonerated by the Innocence Project via DNA in 1999 after serving 16 years in prison. Or Anthony Capozzi, convicted of two rapes in Buffalo in 1987, and exonerated by the Innocence Project via DNA in 2007, having spent 22 years incarcerated. Or any of the other 24 New York State exonerations obtained by the Innocence Project,
These are what Sedita calls "the pretense of preventing an injustice," as we can just put our trust in prosecutors like Sedita, who will be more than happy to "exonerate" anybody they think is innocent on their own. And if they don't, you can bet they're guilty. After all, Sedita would never prosecute an innocent person. It just couldn't happen in "the greatest criminal justice system ever devised."

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - An FBI agent was arrested last Friday on public lewdness charges.
State Police say 48-year-old John Yervelli, Jr. of Lake View was traveling on the eastbound I-90 in Eden around 9 p.m. when he pulled alongside a semi.

The truck driver reportedly told troopers when Yervelli got to his window, Yervelli turned on the dome light and made lewd gestures while not wearing pants.
Officers caught up to the FBI agent at the Hamburg interchange and arrested him for public lewdness, which is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.
FBI Public Affairs Specialist Maureen P. Dempsey says that the arrest of Yervelli is "an internal administrative matter" and that "the FBI is not commenting on the matter beyond that."

Driving without pants leads to charge against FBI agent

A special agent with the Buffalo FBI office faces a misdemeanor charge of public lewdness after state police received a report from a truck driver that the agent allegedly made lewd gestures toward him while not wearing pants and driving on the Thruway in Eden.
John A. Yervelli, 48, of Lake View, faces up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine if convicted.
Troopers said they received the report at about 9 p.m. Friday from the truck driver, who was headed east on the Thruway in Eden. He said the driver of a passenger vehicle “pulled up next to his truck, turned on the dome light and displayed that he was not wearing pants, while making lewd gestures,” according to state police.
A trooper later stopped the vehicle at the Hamburg interchange and, after further investigation, arrested Yervelli on the public lewdness charge. He was later released on a ticket to appear in Eden Town Court. His job status was unknown.
“It’s an internal matter,” said Maureen P. Dempsey, Buffalo FBI spokeswoman. “We would not comment on it at this time.”
Yervelli, according to The Buffalo News archives, was a special agent involved in a large-scale federal probe of narcotics, gun and gang activity on Buffalo’s West Side that resulted in federal charges against 27 people in 2010. That investigation, launched by the FBI-led Safe Streets Task Force, revealed that Javier Navarro of Blum Avenue “and his co-conspirators [were] involved in trafficking multiple kilogram quantities of cocaine from source cities in Puerto Rico and New Jersey,” Yervelli stated in a court affidavit in February 2010.
In a strange twist, a Thruway trooper came under investigation by federal law enforcement authorities in a sex case earlier this year. Then-Trooper Titus Z. Taggart – the son of a retired state police colonel – was fired from his job of 18 years in June as federal authorities probed allegations that he was involved in transporting prostitutes from Canada for parties in the United States while he was off duty.
Frank Sedita will never prosecute that FBI Agent for jerking off on the thruway.

Panus, do you use your own personal credit card & get reimbursed by Misztal? In doing so, gaining all the benefits of points or miles on that card & not showing up on the monthly budget. Also keeping the Prez expen. low because we cant see the reimbursements from Misztal. Did Meegan also take a $200. PR expense every month on top of all the other monies he collected even on top of the SECRET STIPPEN? Did the PBA pay out $26,000 for (Meegan) Prez expen when line # 19 only allots $4,000? Where did that money go to? Did we (PBA) pay $18,000 plus pocket money for the E-Board & each to bring a guest to the convention just months before Meegan is going to retire. Does Misztal also write himself a check every month paying himself for writing checks? As dumb as it sounds, its true. How much did Laswallow get for Darien Lake & the open house? Why did we have a liquor bill for Darien when we didnt serve liquor?
If you want to hide money, all you have to do is spend it.

Only the delegates get to vote on the amendment. Thats why it is imperitive that the membership let their delegate know how they want their vote cast. I also think its very important that this meeting is packed and then you can make sure your elected delegate votes with your best interest instead of their own. There are delegates out there that dont want to see change because they were/are benefiting from the way its been running.
So at the board of directors meeting it came to light that last year the Prez spent $30,000 on a union credit card and thats on top of the extra $500 they were all taking including our current president and treasurer. They also took their wives to Houston at the cost of $19,000 which we paid for (including our current President and Treasurer) we also paid for an attorney to cover up their thievery. As far as Causella goes I would like to thank him for speaking up against the old union and 2 remeining members that were stealing from us and didnt give a shit about it. I am glad that Kennedy and Gambino won over the other 2 that ran cause nothing would have changed.More to come
A fire-damaged car belonging to Robert Tatu, a former top aide to onetime Mayor James D. Griffin and Buffalo's latest homicide victim, was recovered by police Tuesday.
Tatu's car apparently was nowhere in sight Tuesday morning when a passer-by discovered his body at the top of an interior staircase leading to his apartment at 504 Elmwood Ave. There were signs of forced entry to the lower door, police said.
Tatu, 42, a West Point dropout who served as executive assistant to Griffin from 1982 to 1986, had been shot in the upper body, police said.
Homicide Bureau commander Joseph Riga said a motive for the slaying has not been determined.

The union dues are determined by the bylaws. Not Panus. 1.5% is a very low rate, check around.
The constant bickering here about the PBA is becoming absurd. We're cops so we live by the codes we enforce. If it's absolute that money was taken illegally then move on it & make it right. In other words, prove it. Rumor-mongering, innuendo & accusations mean nothing without proof. There are clearly defined rules & people in place to enforce them. Instead of acting like some gossipy old wash women take the bull by the horns and prove your case. This airing of laundry in an anonymous forum is the inappropriate place to settle an issue such as this. Make people accountable for their actions, criminal or otherwise. The truth will come out and when it does there will be opportunity to make your opinion known.

Thank God for the Leftyline again and again. These union problems wouldnt be know by most of us if it wasnt aired anonymously HERE. This line has smoked out more than its share of assholes over the years, now it is cleaning our union house of some old assholes. Face it, if you here a union delegate saying they are voting against the bill to take power away from the President, then they are not to be trusted. 1.5% may seem low, until you apply it to $150,000 in come vs $68,000, not fair and to high. Especially if the union guys are spending it to go on vacation. Take our union back, take our money back and put intelligent people in those spots that are important.
